Sullivan Files Ethics Complaint Against Natchez Board of Aldermen
On April 23, 2018, the Natchez Board of Aldermen went into secret, "executive session" to discuss proposals which had been submitted to the City for garbage collections services. A number of local citizens were upset with this secrecy, and asked me to investigate. I determined that the Mississippi Open Meetings Act prohibited the Board from meeting in private to discuss potential contracts. I then filed on a complaint on behalf of several citizens to the Mississippi Ethics Commission, requesting the Commission to declare the meeting illegal. We expect a ruling from a ruling from the Commission in the near future.
